Winner of the prestigious
Royal Philharmonic Society Award in 2007 and this year's BBC
Music Magazine Award for best change music disc, the Dante
Quartet is one of Britain's finest ensembles. Founded in
1995 at Prussia Cove in Cornwall, the quartet chose Dante's name
to reflect the idea of a great journey of discovery. Renowned
for its imaginative programming and its emotionally charged
performances, the Dante Quartet is a regular guest at festivals
and music societies throughout the UK and abroad, broadcasting
on Radio 3 and recording for Hyperion. They are also
quartet-in-residence at King's College, Cambridge. The

Nigel Edwards joins the Dante Quartet for another 'Paint the
Music' session, providing a unique opportunity to hear
their music and respond using a wide range of art
materials. This year we are once again grateful to DS Smith
packaging for their support. Having
trained, qualified and worked in
graphic design Nigel moved in his twenties to Fine Art and
education to share his commitment to enable the
abilities we all have - mostly underdeveloped - to come
to the fore and flourish. Nigel recently created the cover for the Dante Quartet's
CD: Janacek's string quartets, which was released in
June 2007. |
