Financing the Festival: tickets and donations

Turret gate

The Dante Festival has always run on a modest budget, covering its costs through ticket income, some generous sponsorship, the Festival Friends and the goodwill of the musicians. This year, since our audience capacity is down to only 20-30 people per concert, box office returns will take a drastic cut - but we feel it is important, especially now, to pay all our musicians fairly.

A financial loss is inevitable, therefore we hope you will understand the need to raise our ticket prices to £20 per concert (£10 for children). We will also be very grateful for donations from all those who come to enjoy our wonderful gardens, visit our open rehearsals and listen to our concerts either online or from outside the Music Barn, and even bring a picnic. There is plenty of space! A suggested amount for donations is £10 per adult and £5 per child.

Upon completing the online booking form your ticket request will be sent to the Festival Box Office, and we will let you know whether there are spaces still available for the concerts you have requested. We will then ask for an online payment to secure your reservation. If you have any questions or any problems with booking tickets, please email boxoffice@dantefestival.org or call the Festival Helpline on 07583 050581.

If your preferred concert is sold out, we’ll put you on a waiting list; and if more people request tickets for a particular concert, we will repeat the programme for them at 8pm that same evening.

Listening from outside: For those who prefer not to enter the Barn, it will be possible to sit outside (free of charge, but with a suggested donation of £5-£10 per person) and listen to the concert through the open doors and windows. Chairs will be available, or you can bring a picnic rug. Please maintain social distancing at all times. As there is no cover outside, please bring a raincoat or umbrella if needed!

Open rehearsals and informal chamber music reading sessions:

There will be several of these daytime sessions during the week, to be announced nearer the time. They will not be ticketed, and people are welcome to wander into the Barn in small numbers with social distancing, or to listen from outside. Again, donations will be appreciated to help cover our costs.

Covid Contingency Plan
In the unfortunate event of the Covid-safety rules changing again, and indoor concerts still being forbidden during our festival dates, we will adapt by moving our concerts outside to the open area in front of the Barn. We will hope for good weather, and will be happy to refund those who have booked indoor tickets.
